Country: Haiti
Year Established: 2004
Mission: To significantly reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in underserved communities in Haiti by providing high-quality, culturally relevant healthcare.
Vision: Every mother and infant, regardless of background, deserves access to high-quality healthcare, fostering the foundation for healthy, empowered communities.
Focus Areas: Maternal and infant healthcare, wellness and preventative care, family planning, prenatal and postnatal education, and community development.
Program Summary: Maison de Naissance (MN) began providing maternal health care services in October 2004 in Torbeck,
Haiti, serving an impoverished region with a population of roughly 76,000. The maternal and infant health center focuses on providing access to prenatal care, professionally attended deliveries, postnatal
care including postpartum depression, and family planning, alongside community development programs. By removing barriers to healthcare, MN has achieved impressive results, including a dramatic
increase in prenatal care rates from 51% to 99% and a significant reduction in maternal mortality, with zero deaths among mothers delivering in the clinic since operations began. Over 9,300 healthy babies have been delivered to healthy mothers at Maison de Naissance. In addition to healthcare services, MN is expanding its educational, maternal health screening and family planning initiatives through a series of remote outpost clinics being established in previously unserved, remote and difficult to access locations in the surrounding region.
